Johnny was open about his Christianity, which always seemed to be the kind that was concerned about feeding the hungry, caring for the sick and visiting the prisoners.
Chuckie, on the other hand, wears his religion on his sleeve. But his religious beliefs seem to only encourage him in promoting hostility to immigrants, Muslims, war correspondents, Europeans and pretty much anyone who doesn't agree with his hard right political positions.
Chuckie don't think much of people who try to make peace in the land where Jesus lived either. He says it's against God's will:
There will be no peace in the Middle East until Jesus Christ comes back to earth. Oh there will be a three and a half year period of peace under the rule of the satanic antichrist, but only the return of Jesus will bring peace in Israel.I'm sure Jesus would have recognized in Johnny Cash a common sense of religion and humanity. Chuckie would have just made him want to throw up.
