Plans have been practically completed for the launching of a new secret order in Mississippi to be known as American Crusaders, which will have for its purpose the combating of the evolution theory in American schools and colleges. The Rev. A. R. Adams, of Hattiesburg, will be commander of the new order, which will also advocate the reading of the Bible in the public schools, and the increase of attendance in the Protestant churches.
The big thing that's changed is that people of the Rev. Adams' viewpoint in 1926 tended to vote Democratic along with everyone else in the "Solid South".
His counterparts today are loyal Republicans.
Or, as Arlo Guthrie once put it, "Some things don't change, you know. Some things do."
