Bush gave the fourth and final in a series of speeches designed to scam the public into believing he's got a plan for "victory" in Iraq: President Discusses Iraqi Elections, Victory in the War on Terror 12/14/05.
Shorter version: I'm just giving out the same old shuck-and-jive here. But I'll bet we can spin the media into making it sound new and different.
And sure enough, that group we generously call our "press corps" played meekly along: Media falsely reported that Bush "took responsibility" for flawed prewar intel Media Matters 12/15/05
The Daily Howler is right. This kind of reporting doesn't come naturally. They have to work really, really hard to be this superficial. And this wrong. I mean, how could anyone read the plain text of Bush's speech and come away with that conclusion? It's amazing.
