"The family is the foundation of our society, and it's been based on a union of a man and a woman since the inception of marriage," said Del. John A. Cosgrove (R-Chesapeake). "A constitutional amendment . . . will protect that."Uh, excuse me? Even the flat-earthers ought to be taking exception to that. Marriage has "been based on a union of a man and a woman since [its] inception"?
Doesn't this guy attend his Bible study classes? We don't even have to go into how far off King Solomon was from being married to "a" woman. There's the story of Jacob and Rachel, which was considerably complicated by the fact that Jacob was also married to her sister Leah. Poor Leah, Rachel always was Jacob's favorite. (He had children with Billah and Zilpah, too, but they were slaves, not wives.)
Oh, and then there's the ever-fascinating question of who Adam and Eve's children married. Well, they had to marry their siblings, now didn't they?! And then there's Lot and his daughters. But I won't go there right now.
What an idiot this Cosgrove guy must be. A Biblically illiterate idiot, at that!
