Sandy Levinson at the Balkinization blog points out a very disturbing incident in Mike Huckabee's career in Did Mike Huckabee lead a coup? 12/16/07. It involves Huckabee's actions in 1996, when Arkansas' Democratic Gov. Jim Guy Tucker was convicted on two felony counts in one of Kenneth Starr's Whitewater prosecutions. Huck was the Lt. Governor at the time.
Tucker initially refused to resign immediately afterward. And, by the Huck's own account, he essentially seized power anyway, going on TV and declaring his was now in control and even taking authority over the state troopers.
Wow!
