Good question

Darcy Burner, head of ProgressiveCongress.org, posting on Twitter (as TuffGrrl) as of the no-public-option version of health care reform:

Why would it be a good idea to force people to buy private insurance with no effective controls on how much that insurance would cost?
The answer, of course, is that it would be a boon to the insurance industry. And from the Blue Dogs' and Republicans' point of view, it would be a way to make lots of people angry about the whole reform so they could vote it out of existence as soon as possible.
