Glenn Greenwald on national security abuses, the war on drugs and other things

Glenn's position on a third party option for Democrats is unrealistic, though worth hearing. In a two-party system, there are ways for dissenting ideological or interest groupings to assert their distinct perspectives without a third party, such as primary challenges. The "movement conservatives" that were considered a failed, sectarian faction in the Republican Party after the 1964 electoral fiasco have long since become dominant within the Republican Party without coalescing around a third party option. At the same time, rightwing third parties like the Constitution Party have played a significant role in the growth of far-right dominance in the Republican Party without throwing elections to the Democrats.
