Offshore drilling: the Obama Administration gets it right! At least on Wednesday

The Obama Administration announced Wednesday: Atlantic, eastern Gulf closed to offshore drilling till 2017 McClatchy News 12/01/2010.

I'm rushing to blog some praise for the Administration on this. Because the way things have been going, it won't surprise me if they bargain this away or just back off from it completely by Friday.

But for the moment, let's give the President and his normally oil-industry-flunky Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar credit for doing something right! It even applies to parts of the Gulf of Mexico.
