The Three Musketeers of Militarism - Sens. John "Maverick" McCain, Lindsey Graham and Joe Lieberman, all members of the Senate Armed Services Committee - were on Candy Crowley's CNN State of the Union program on Easter Sunday 04/24/2011 to call on President Obama to escalate, escalate, escalate in Libya.
Nothing at all suprising about this. It's what they always call for in wars. Nor is it surprising to hear the bold Maverick saying that Al Qa'ida will git us if we don't escalate like he says: Ken Maguire, Libya stalemate would draw in Al-Qaeda: McCain AFP/Yahoo! News 04/24/2011. It's true that we likely face a protracted insurgency of some kind in Libya, and jihadists will likely be involved. But whatever is left of Osama bin Laden's original Al Qa'ida group is not going to be sending in divisions of soldiers to take over Libya. "Al Qa'ida" has become an all-purpose bogeyman for our national security establishment and its eager enablers like the bold Maverick.
