Germany and the 100th anniversary of the First World War: a baseline of banality

Deutsche Welle English's Quadriga program has a 43-minute discussion program on Germany in the last century, Quadriga: 1914 - 2014: A Century of History 01/03/2014:

I didn't catch anything in the show that is likely to ruffle the comfortable conventional wisdom on anything. The precarious state of the euro wasn't priority enough to displace more urgent matters, like recitations of decades-old chestnuts about The Challenges Of German Leadership In Europe. The panel also seems to think that Germany's reluctance to jump into wars all over the place like Britain or France was a quaint relic of outdated thinking.

As a kind of baseline statement of conventional wisdom on The Significance Of The First World War Anniversary, it's pretty good.
