Marshall Ganz, the gifted organizer who headed Obama's "Obama for America" organization in 2008, writes about the new film about Cesar Chavez in Not the Cesar Chavez I Knew The Nation 04/01/2014.
I think the movie tells a great deal of the story very well. Depicting the life of a public figure, particularly the leader of a political movement, is a real challenge.
Ganz was heavily involved with Chavez' United Farm Workers (UFW) for 16 years and was one of the union's top figures, especially important in the political campaigns they supported. So his perspective is well worth reading.
