Christmas 2017

This is my favorite new (to me!) Christmas song for 2017, in what's know as the vallenata style popular in Colombia and other places in the Caribbean, Mi Burrito Sabanero, aka, "El Burrito de Belén," sung by Juanes:

I always like to remember the Christmas Truce of 1914 at this time of the year, pictured here in a contemporary illustration from The Illustrated London News 01/09/1915 Wikimedia Commons):

I see there are some new articles out recalling the event:

Gillian Brockell, The Christmas Truce miracle: Soldiers put down their guns to sing carols and drink wine Washington Post 12/24/2017

Ben Brimelow, The incredible true story of when WWI stopped for enemy armies to celebrate Christmas together Business Insider 12/25/2017

Peter Hart, This is how the Christmas truce happened on the Western Front in 1914 Navy Times 12/22/2017
