John Brennan, one of the more controversial prospects for a senior intelligence position because of his record of support for torture and other criminal activity, has taken himself out of consideration.
You can read his self-serving letter to Obama here, complaining about the DFH Democratic base that opposed him.
Glenn Greenwald, one of Brennan's more visible critics, talks about it in Exceptional news: John Brennan won't be CIA Director or DNI Salon 11/25/08. Greenwald also addresses his claim in his withdrawal letter that he was always opposed to the Bush torture policy!
But, I always supported the Revolution! I always supported the junta! I always supported the old king who's returned to the throne!
Regime change is normally accompanied by the sounds of opportunists rewriting their pasts.
Mark up one for human rights and the rule of law!
Greenwald also quotes Big Tent Democrat saying, "In case people were wondering, THIS is why you do not wait to express your 'concern' about issues and personnel."

Bruce,
Good news indeed!
Now, let's get some sunshine into the dungeons and put some of the jailers into the dock.
