Obama and Netanyahu

I'm always leery of news items this vaguely sourced. But M.J. Rosenberg has been solid in his writing on US-Israeli relations. So its quite interesting to see him reporting in Bibi Surrendering to Post Health Care Super Obama! TPM Cafe 03/20/10:

It looks like Prime Minister Netanyahu is capitulating to US demands over Jerusalem.

The battle is not over. But with health care passing, Obama's Presidency is rejuvenated while Bibi looks used up. As for AIPAC, this is a nightmare. The President who is taking them on has demonstrated he cannot be rolled.

Nothing is over with the Israeli right until you see it done.

Words, signatures, nothing means anything but the deed. But this is huge.

Word in Washington is that behind the scene the deliveries of US materiel to Israel slowed early last week. That got Netanyahu's attention.

Who knows? But whatever the administration did, it worked. [my emphasis]
Gideon Levy in Netanyahu did one thing right in the Jerusalem debacle Haaretz 02/22/10 gives Netanyahu credit for admitting that Israeli construction in occupied portions of Jerusalem are settlements, which Israel has resisted calling them before.
